Here’s the final installment in our series of of Jet Set Zero Italy roundups, written by Courtney Scott.

As the final week of Jet Set Zero snuck up on us, our fate dangled in the wind.  Where would we go next?  How could we earn money?  Would we ever see our new friends again?  With major life decisions about to be made, we had one last destination to explore.  And it was a good one.  The Amalfi Coast.

Watching the sunset on the terrace of Villa Terrazza

Through a friend of a friend we scored an unofficial gig as “room fillers” which meant two free nights stay at Villa Terazza in Sorrento, the hub of all Amalfi Coast exploration.  After many weeks working in a classroom, we luxuriated in the villa’s amenities:  a private terrace, gorgeous pool and full on views of the coast.  All the way across the sky.

First order of business was to find a boat, get on it, and cross off the unanimous bucket list must: sail the Amalfi Coast.  Much to my delight, our gracious host, Andrea, was the owner and operator of several amazing boat tours.  On our final day of Jet Set Zero, we got the chance we were hoping for — a full day sail to the Isle of Capri.  It was one big jaw drop.  Our boat crew dipped in and out of what seemed like every single grotto around the island, including the green grotto, the white grotto, the blue grotto and the champagne grotto, which fizzed like the real bubbly.  While most enter and exit the blue grotto by boat, our group decided to make it even more memorable by swimming inside.  Memorable it was, especially for Perrin who encountered a giant sea urchin inside the grotto.  I suspect she is still picking out spines from here heel.  There were dozens.

Pushing Perrin back from the boat in a shopping cart. Damn sea urchin.

A high-speed sunset sail back to Sorrento was our final memory of an unforgettable Italian summer.  Would we do it all again?  In a second.
